Matobo National Park, Zimbabwe
Matobo Hills Guided Day
A guided day in the balancing granite hills south of Bulawayo, taking in rock art, landscape and wildlife on foot.
Matabeleland South, Zimbabwe · Zimbabwe
Balancing granite hills, ancient rock art and a landscape unlike anywhere else in the region, south of Bulawayo.
Overview
Matobo is a landscape first and a park second: kilometres of balancing granite boulders, whaleback hills and sheltered valleys south of Bulawayo. The hills hold a long human history, including rock art in caves and shelters, and they carry deep cultural significance in Zimbabwe.
It is also a walking and rhino-tracking destination rather than a vehicle-only park, which makes it a very different day from Hwange and a natural companion to it in a longer Zimbabwe itinerary.
Matobo National Park lies in Matabeleland South, a short distance south of Bulawayo in south-western Zimbabwe.
